Located in the precincts of the G D Naidu Industrial Exhibition, the G D Naidu Charities is highly regarded for the kind of students that it produces.  Students who have finished the different courses at the Institute have been placed in Tata Engineering and Locomotive Company, Ashok Leyland, HM-Lancer, TVS Suzuki, L G Balakrishnan Brothers, Toyota, United Arab Emirates Car Garage, BPL, Onida, Philips, Videocon and many other leading companies in India and around the world.

In 1946, G D Naidu started this Institute, then called the Industrial Labour Welfare Association.  He started with training for an Automobile Service Course and a Radio Service Course. These courses were for a duration of 3 months, while it took 3 years to cover the same subject in the Government Polytechnic).  When the same question paper that was given to the students of the Government Polytechnic was given to G D Naidu’s students, better results were seen.  Following this, he started a 6-week course in Automobile and Radio servicing, with more emphasis on practice than theory.  The course became so popular that the Industrial Labour Welfare Association / G D Naidu Charities conducted 312 courses and trained more than 14,000 students since then.  In 1987, one more course in Radio and Television Technology was started.  The courses have been a boon not only to Tenth standard Matriculation or SSLC students, but even to Engineering and Diploma students.  The courses have provided many opportunities for self-employment.
