An ISO 9002 certified hospital, K G Hospital is a
landmark on Arts College Road in Coimbatore. It is a charitable
hospital managed by the K Govindaswamy Naidu Medical Trust.
Dr. G Bakthavathsalam is the Chairman of the Trust. K G
Hospital which was founded in 1975 by industrialist and philanthropist
K Govindaswamy Naidu, is today a self-contained unit and
has some of the most sophisticated equipment in the country, providing
world-class health care.
The
300-bed hospital has more than 150 doctors and 600 nursing staff. The
hospital has 29 speciality departments, of which the Cardiology
department headed by Dr. N Bhaskar, is the most high
profile department. The hospital also offers laboratory services
for Haematology, Clinical Chemistry, Microbiology, Clinical Pathology,
Cytology, Histopathology and Viral Hepatitis Research Lab.
There are seven operation theatres, of which five are major operation
theatres and two are minor operations theatre. The hospital has
four intensive care units with 43 beds.
The
hospital has also been recognised by the National Board of Examinations
for conducting courses in seven super specialities. This is
the fourth hospital in the country to qualify for ISO 9002 certification,
by fulfilling the international quality parameters. The hospital
is recognised by several central government companies and leading
private companies and the Prime Minister's and Chief Minister's
Relief Fund for specialised surgeries.
