of KG Denim Limited, Sri Kannapiran Mills Limited and Southern
Technologies Limited, K G Balakrishnan is the eldest son of KG
group founder K Govindaswamy Naidu.
KG Balakrishnan is the founder President of the Coimbatore Stock
Exchange, Chairman of the India-Sri Lanka Joint Business Council
and EC Member of the Federation of Indian Chamber of Commerce
and Industry. Among his several achievements was the infusion
of a new vitality into the Indian Chamber of Commerce and Industry,
Coimbatore (ICCIC), when in 1986, he became its President.
Through his trusteeship of KG Medical Trust, KG Educational Trust,
KG Diary Farms, the Then Tirumala Srinivasa Trust and the
KG Religious Trust, K G Balakrishnan makes a very substantial
contribution to community development. |

| DR N MAHALINGAM |
 Chairman
of the Sakthi group,
Dr N Mahalingam is the son of groupfounder Nachimuthu who
started off as a farmer in Pollachi. An Engineer by qualification,
Mahalingam was responsible for infusing a greater dynamism into the
group after he took over. He was also instrumental in steering the
group through several successful diversification (from transport to
sugar, textiles, finance, drugs, synthetic gems etc). Conferred the
Doctor of Law by the Bharathiar University, Coimbatore, Mahalingam
has also been a prominent philanthropist and champion of education.
He is the founder of Nachimuthu Polytechnic, Pollachi.
He also served as President of the South Indian Sugar Mills Association,
the Tamil Nadu Distilleries Association, Tamil Nadu Chess Foundation,
All India Chess Foundation, Ramalingar Pani Mandram and Bharathiar
Memorial Sangam and was Director of Small Scale Industries
Promotion Corporation Limited (SIPCOT).
